The Mid-America Chapter received the Chapter Ten Star Award, which recognizes the Chapter as a model in accomplishing the goals set forth by AFP and chapter leadership. The Chapter is also a 2014 Friend of Diversity. The Chapter is also a past recipient of the Founders' Award for Public Service, honoring chapter achievements in promoting and maintaining high standards of public service and conduct.

Feb 6 - ACLU-MO Director of Philanthropy
Position Overview Both the national ACLU and the ACLU of Missouri will celebrate our 100th anniversaries in 2020 and are embarking on the most ambitious fundraising campaign in our history. Using the Centennial Campaign to leverage the depth and breadth of our major donor prospect pool and partnering with the national office to collaborate on key leadership gifts strategies, the Director of Philanthropy will create and direct a philanthropy program to significantly increase leadership gifts for ACLU-MO and strengthen the relationships between the ACLU and our supporters to reach our annual and long-range fund development goals. The Director of Philanthropy is a key member of ACLU-MO senior management, reporting to the Executive Director, shares supervision of the Development/Communications Associate, and works with national development colleagues. We seek a creative trailblazer who wants the opportunity to conceive and create a high-performing development program. Qualifications • Minimum of three years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, with progressive management responsibility and a proven track record of soliciting, closing, and stewarding leadership gifts of $10,000+. Experience soliciting planned gifts is also desired. • Demonstrated experience developing long-term cultivation and solicitation strategies for high level prospects and donors. • Superb interpersonal, oral, and written communication and presentation skills; demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, comfortably and respectfully with donors, staff and lay leaders. • Excellent organizational skills; detail oriented with ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously and to meet deadlines. • Ability to understand and speak compellingly about the ACLU’s work across the many issue areas of civil liberties and civil rights. Feb 5 - Part-Time Executive Assistant for Advancement
Crossworld is in need of a part-time Executive Assistant for Advancement for 20 hours per week in the Kansas City, Mo. home office. This person will assist and report directly to the Director of Development and be a key contributor to the success of Crossworld’s Advancement efforts. He or she will provide administrative support primarily for the Director of Development and, to a lesser degree, for the VP Advancement as time permits. Feb 3 - Grants and Foundation Specialist
The American Red Cross depends heavily on the support of our generous donor population. We participate in many donor-focused fundraising activities including identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding of top corporate and foundation partners, as well as with individual donors across the country. The funds we receive provide unrestricted support to our Chapters, helping us fulfill our mission to provide relief to victims of disaster and help people prevent, prepare and respond to emergencies in our communities. We are currently seeking a Grants and Foundation Specialist for our Kansas City, MO region. The Grants and Foundation Specialist is responsible for coordinating the full range of activities required to prepare, submit and manage grant proposals in the Kansas City Region of the American Red Cross. Researches grant opportunities that matches goals and objectives of the chapter or region. Gathers information and coordinates/writes grant proposals to corporation, and foundation funds. Develops and maintains effective, long term relationships with grantors to facilitate approvals of grants. Follows up with grantors to determine/monitor grant status. Conducts in-person meetings when necessary to deepen the relationship with foundations. Education: Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree is highly desirable. Experience: A minimum of 3- 5 years experience working for a nonprofit organization or in public relations, marketing, sales, communication or project management. Corporate fundraising or workplace giving experience preferred. Experience working with community foundations and/or corporate foundations preferred. Outstanding writing skills are required. (Toronto, Ontario) – The AFP Foundation for Philanthropy – Canada has received a multiyear grant, valued at $403,674, from the Ontario Ministry of Citizenship, Immigration and International Trade to create a fellowship program that will support and train fundraisers from diverse backgrounds.
